Last Week of the School Holidays
Sadly this is the last week of the school holidays, and we have had a great summer with members taking part in RYA training courses, Parkstone Youth Week, Optimist and Topper Nationals and many other exciting things!
We have another 16 young people on training courses this week before schools start back next week. After a quiet first week of September our team are then looking forward to 6 weeks of school visits and activities before the October half term when we will again have RYA courses running all week.
Fish & Chips Tomorrow
On Wednesday (28th August) we have two dinghy races, followed by fish and chips! The Commodore's Cup Handicap Race will start at 17.45 (with a separate Junior Fleet start). The Alice Lisle Pursuit Race will start at 18.53.
Following racing we will be having fish and chips at around 20.30, followed by a prize giving and of course the bar will be open!
Fish & chips must be pre-ordered by 1200 on Wednesday via this link. Late orders will not be accepted.
Good Luck Jonathan!
This week Jonathan Burns is competing in the RS Aero Worlds Championships at Hayling Island Sailing Club! Good luck Jonathan.
Powerboat Skills Development
On Wednesday 4th September we are running a powerboat skills refresher day, this is an opportunity for members to come down and get some practice driving our club powerboats and make sure they are familiar with the operation of all our different craft! There is no need to book, and turn up for as little or as much time as you want.
Then we have an RYA Safety Boat Course running on the 5th and 6th of September! This course is a step up from the RYA Powerboat Level 2, and is required to take charge of a safetyboat at Spinnaker Sailing Club. This course costs members either £50, or if you commit to 3 x Safetyboat Driver Duties in the 12 months following your course it is free! You can book your place here now.
Optimist Open This Saturday
This Saturday is our annual Optimist Open Meeting! We currently have 28 entrants, and we are accepting entries up until Thursday 29th August. Last year we had 45 entrants, can we get more this year? You can find out more information and enter here.
Please note that due to the expected size of this event no use of the lake other than by those racing in this open meeting will be permitted between 9am and 4pm on Saturday 31st August.
