Winter Is Here!
After a very mild October, November has suddenly brought a slight chill! Please remember:
- From now until 1st April you must wear a wetsuit or drysuit while afloat (unless in a powerboat).
- Our Winter Race Series starts this Sunday. Normally the first race starts at 10.30, but this is delayed on Sunday 10th November (this Sunday) to 11.15 to allow us all to observe a 2-minute's silence at 11am before hoisting sails and launching. The start will be delayed if necessary to allow all sailor's to launch.
- We strongly recommend you remove your sails from your boat over winter as many of our local residents like to use them to make nests.
Social Sailing
Don't forget Social Sailing runs every Thursday from 10.30! Come and join us for a sail or paddle while one of our staff team is on hand to man the safetyboat. Club boats will be available to hire throughout the winter.
Staff Training
If you've been to the club in the last few weeks on a Tuesday morning you may have seen our staff team taking part in some weekly training! Our staff team have a wealth of experience, and are working together to share this to help build a more resilient, and capable team. So far they have looked at first aid, race management, and a couple of weeks ago even got to have a go at some team racing! This will continue throughout the winter so they are ready for summer 2025!
At this point we would also like to say congratulation to James and Sam on recently gaining some new qualifications! Last week Sam passed his Paddle UK Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course as part of his development towards becoming a Paddlesport Instructor. Meanwhile James' final assignment for his Level 3 Award in Education and Training was accepted, and he received his qualification last week.
Firefly Weekend
Our Firefly Weekend was a huge success. With very competitive racing across both days there were lots of brilliant moments of awesome sailing! You can see a full report on Yachts & Yachting here.
AGM 2024
Our 2024 Annual General Meeting will be on Sunday 8th December at 1.30pm. We hope to see as many members as possible. Remember as a member this is your club, your voice counts, and the Main Committee want to hear your views.
