Eric Twiname Team Vacancy!

Spinnaker Sailing Club has been invitied to enter the Eric Twiname Youth Team Racing Championship, running on 9th and 10th October at Oxford Sailing Club. We will be competing in Fevas.

We did have a full team lined up, unfortunately one of our young sailors has injured himself and is no longer able to sail! This is hugely disappointing for the injured sailor and we hope he is back out on the water soon. What this does mean is we are now urgently looking for a helm to take his place! If your child would like to take part please give James a call on 07880517110 as a matter of urgency as we need to confirm our entry by this Friday!

New Racing Weekly Email

Next week we will be launching our new weekly racing specific newsletter. This will contain lots of useful information to help keep our racers, safetyboat drivers and Race Officers up to date with any changes in procedures or best practice.

We will also be including a weekly rule tip/explanation to help everyone become more aware and knowledgeable of some of the intricacies of the Racing Rules of Sailing. Our first rule explanation will be around Rule 42!

Anyone who has raced, or is the parent of a racer, will be automatically added to the list. If you don't race yet and would like to be included in the emails to learn a bit more about what goes on please get in touch with James on training@spinnakerclub.co.uk and we will add you to the list!

October Half Term RYA Courses

I know it's strange to be thinking about the next school holiday already, but it's only 6 weeks away!

We have a range of RYA courses running Monday to Friday during the October Half Term, and spaces are filling up quick, so we advise booking early to avoid disappointment.

If the course your child is interested in is not currently available please let us know and we will see if we can fit it in.

Racing Duties

Thank you to everyone who has recently volunteered, or confirmed they can cover an allocated duty. A number of allocations were sent out last week. If you are a racer please can you check your junk mail folder to see if they have gone there, and respond to the office so we know whether we have sufficient people available to run racing as planned.

Optimist Open

This Saturday we have our annual Optimist Open. There are still plenty of spaces available for any Optimist sailor who wishes to enter.

As with all our club organised open events please remember the lake is closed for recreational use during the racing (approximately 10am to 4pm) and there will be no club equipment available for hire on Saturday.
