On behalf of our Main Committee, Sailing Committee and Staff Team thank you to everyone who came on Saturday to help with our work party. A great amount of work was done, in particular the picnic benches were stained, the south hedge lowered and grass strimmed!
The club looks a lot better for your efforts, thank you!
Schools Sailing
As we head into the (slightly) warmer weather of spring we have started seeing more school groups at the lake! It's been fantastic to see lot's of sailing going on, including 25 sailors from 2 schools yesterday!
As we head into April our work with local schools will increase even more, showcasing to many local families the facilities we can offer to members, and helping introduce hundreds of young people to sailing.
Understanding the Racing Rules of Sailing
Following the success of our "Update to the Racing Rules of Sailing" session we have had several requests for another evening where we will dive into the depths of the basic rules a little bit more.
Our Rear Commodore Sailing Robert has kindly volunteered to lead this session on Wednesday 12th March at 7pm when we will look at the basic rules within Part 2 for "When Boats Meet." This session is aimed at those new to racing through to regular club racers who would like a little bit more clarity on what the rules are, how they work, and how to avoid getting into sticky situations. This is a great opportunity for those who want to start racing but want a little more knowledge before they do!
New Systems - Card Machine
After many years of faithful service our old Zettle card reader has become increasingly un-reliable. So we have invested a new "Square" Card Reader to make running the bar even easier! This new device also has some added features to support our busy programme of events.
A set of instructions will be made to help make its use as easy as possible.
Welcome to New Members and Pre-Season Evening
Wednesday 26th March is our annual Welcome to New Members and Pre-Season Information evening. Come along and see what is planned for 2025, find out what you can get involved in, and find out about how racing will run in 2025!
The evening will start with fish & chips at 7pm, before our Sailing Committee take the floor at 7.30 to update us all!
