2025 AGM
A big thank you to everyone who came to our AGM on Sunday! We hope those of you who attended found it informative. All the resolutions passed including the amendments to the byelaws and 2026 membership fees. The website will be fully updated with all relevant details on Friday this week. The AGM Minutes are being finalised and we hope to publish these shortly.
A key change in personnel happened during the AGM with Tom Clay becoming Commodore, and Phil Tinsley becoming Vice Commodore (yes they have swopped roles).
2025 Bill Bacon Award
The Bill Bacon Award is granted annually to a member of the club who has gone above and beyond in their support of Spinnaker Sailing Club. Recent recipients have included Phil Hoggart (outstanding efforts in supporting site maintenance) and Les Radford (long term contribution to the Sailing Committee, club administration and general help).
The Main and Sailing Committee's were unanimous in 2025 in wishing to grant the Bill Bacon ward to Phil Steedman for his fantastic work in creating and maintaining our flower pots and other general site maintenance. Thank you for all your efforts Phil!
2026 Membership Renewals
All annual members should have received information regarding their membership renewals yesterday evening. Within the email was information about how to renew, as well as a request to check the club's records regarding your address etc were up to date. You can see your renewals details (and renew your membership) here.
Our early bird renewal discount will run until 31st January 2026. If you have any questions about your membership, would like to change the type of your membership or need assistance with renewing please email admin@spinnakerclub.co.uk.
Model Yachting
You may have recently seen a few Model Yachts in use at the lake. We are very excited to be trialling model yachting at the moment during a couple of time slots each week.
At the AGM there will be more information about our plans for Model Yachting in 2026. Then there will also be the opportunity to try your hand at model yachting on Thursday 11th December between 10:00nd 12:00, there is no need to book, just turn up!
How to Stay In Touch
Don't forget a really good way to stay in touch with other members is our Whatsapp Community, there are different groups within the community for each of our main classes, as well as the SYT Parents Group and a Kayaking/Paddleboarding Group.
