Spinnaker Sailing Club Weekly News - 01/04/25

Published 15:07 on 31 Mar 2025
Spring is Here!
It's definitely spring now, the air is getting warmer, racing is happening every Sunday afternoon again, and soon Wednesday evening racing will restart for the lighter evenings! This also means the wesuit/drysuit rule is being relaxed as of today, and if you so choose you may now go sailing in shorts and tshirt (with a buoyancy aid please). However, the water remains cold, and will not warm up for another few weeks, so please consider whether wetsuits/drysuits are still appropriate for you to wear.
BUSA Team Racing Championship Finals
The BUSA Team Racing Championship Finals start 1 week today, with 3 action packed days of racing planned! You can find out more and follow the event live here!
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to support this event, you should have received an email last night with more details from James. If you haven't volunteered yet we are still looking for a few volunteers so please get in touch if you can help!
Please remember that due to the size of this event no other activity may take place on the lake during the event.
See Sailing Your Way
Working in conjunction with RYA Sailability, Blind Sailing UK and New Forest Sailability we are very excited to be running See Sailing Your Way at Spinnaker Sailing Club this year! Over 15 weeks we have an opportunity for visually impaired individuals to learn to sail in a tailored, welcoming environment, with support to continue sailing beyond this programme for those who wish to continue sailing.
Over 15 weeks we are running two learn to sail courses exclusively for visually impaired individuals, and 3 one-off sessions to consolidate sailing skills once individuals have learnt to sail.

New Recognition
We are very proud to have received confirmation last week that we are now recognised as a British Sailing Pathway Club, one of the first in the country! This is a great sign and confirmation of our great programme of junior sailing and racing! This recognition not only shows the quality of our offer but also gives us access to additional resources and support - look out for some branded rash vests very soon!
Upcoming Events
Some of the highlights of the next few weeks are:
- Sunday 30th March - Alice Lisle One Day Series (and the start of weekly Sunday racing)!
- Wednesday 9th April - Wednesday Evening Racing returns!
- Monday 14th - Friday 18th April - Our first RYA Youth Stage 1 & 2 of 2025
And of course, Social Sailing runs every Thursday from 10.30 to 12.30!
